Went to check out the Fukagawa Hachimangu Matsuri today in Koto-Ku, Tokyo. Based on the website, this festival is one of the Tokyo’s Three Greatest Summer Festivals, in which people scattering water drops over Mikoshi carriers. Kodomo-Mikoshi (46 portable shrines carried by children) parade in the neighborhood. It was definitely a sight to see, a huge amount of people came out to the festival, lots of vendors selling delicious food and alcohol throughout the entire city. The weather cooperated for once today; although it was still hot, most of the day was overcast. It was definitely an interesting experience, I think once is enough for this one. After the festival, we made our way into Harajuku/Omotesando/Shibuya area for lunch and shopping.
