I woke up at 4AM yesterday in hopes of going to another awesome Sekidobashi (Bicycle Swap Meet) that’s held only twice a year. When I arrived in Fuchu, there was only disappointment and a ton of rain. By tradition if it rains out on the Saturday the swap meet is held, the meet is postponed until the following Saturday. However, since I was driving I didn’t bother to get out of the car and check to see if there was anything going on under the bridge (since the meet is normally held out in the open grass fields next to the bridge)… I was searching online last night to find out that whoever came out ended up setting up shop underneath the bridge later in the morning. How sickening.. I read that some people will still go next week Saturday regardless, but I’m sure there were a lot of good deals that came and went yesterday.
On a better note, went out to look at cars with my coworker John and ran into another coworker, Endo-san, at the garage. I’ve heard about Endo-san’s K-car; however, never got a chance to see it in person. His Suzuki Jimny is a beast behind its little exterior. He invited us to follow him to a spot near Sagami River where he and his team practices offroading with their cars. I was amazed how much traction and torque these small 3-cyclinder turbo cars have. So much fun, and definitely a different experience from your typical track/drift car. Endo-san races in many competitions and has actually flipped his car multiple times.
