Started putting together everything before this Friday since you can’t be too prepared before riding around the island. I’ve rode around the island once, and I remember vaguely saying that I’ll never do it again.. It’s similar to telling yourself you’ll never eat at a restaurant again because the food was so bad, and then you impulsively go back again because you need to be reminded of how bad it was. Well another island ride is on my to-do list this Friday, only this one is a little more special… It’s during the night.
Some of my other friends did the first “Graveyard Unstoppable” a couple months ago and it was a success. They rode through the early hours of the morning as a pack around the island, clockwise. Despite the “fear” of cars driving in those pitch-black roads of Haleiwa late at night that most people try to stay away from; the last night ride, from what I’ve heard, wasn’t so bad. I’m looking forward to doing this ride, as it is going in the opposite direction from the past island ride I’ve done, meaning no gruesome climb up Pineapple Hill. But it does mean everything is backwards, and all the nice descents down hills previously, will turn in long, tiring climbs. I’m already aware of what’s ahead for us, I’m just hoping everyone stays safe, rides hard and keeps the drama at home. Wish us luck this Friday.
